Olu of Warri to confer chieftaincy titles on Ayiri, Thomas, 3 others

As part of activities to mark his silver jubilee celebration on the pristine throne of the ancient Warri Kingdom, Delta State, the Olu of Warri, His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse II, will on April 28, confer chieftaincy titles on five prominent Itsekiri sons.
The royal father is also to deliver his 25th anniversary lecture to the Itsekiri nation on May 2, at Ode-Itsekiri (Big Warri), while the high point of the celebration is carnival type boat regatta featuring over 50 beautifully decorated watercrafts at the Warri River on May 5.
Activities lined up for the 25th coronation anniversary, according to the committee, showed that other items listed for display included dance competition, tug-of-war, art and craft, football, Itsekiri language competition, free health care, among others.
Those to be conferred with chieftaincy titles in recognition of their contributions to the growth and development of Iwereland, are Mr. Ayiri Emami and Mr. Thomas Ereyitomi. Others are administrator cum politician, Mr. Otimeyin Adams; Pa J.A. Everest of Koko and a Linguist, Dr. Mark Ogharaerumi.
Preparation of the venues for the event have reached advanced stages both in the oil CityWarri and Ode-Itsekiri, which are currently wearing new looks, while different communities are preparing their boats for the colourful boat regatta.
